Madison, WI -Credit union managers and executives in the Operations, Sales and Service (OpSS) area face the task of turning a merger proposal into the reality of a combined, high-performing organization, according to a new CUNA OpSS Council white paper.
"Mergers from the OpSS Perspective"is based on information gathered from credit union experts who have participated in multiple mergers. The white paper details the tasks involved in combining operations, from creating a merger team, to developing lists of essential tasks and conversions, to communicating with members and employees. Creating an objective process for reviewing operations and making decisions is essential, according to the white paper.
Experts from these credit unions say establishing a shared culture and managing change are key elements of the challenge of blending operations to create a single, unified organization. "In a true merger, you determine what is going to get you where you want to go," said Richard Brandsma, President and CEO of Sound Credit Union. By creating an infrastructure for merger decisions and developing a step-by-step approach to executing those decisions, operations leaders help make it possible for a merger to achieve its full potential.
CUNA Council members are eligible to receive complimentary copies of this, and over 300 other white papers; non-Council members may purchase white papers for $50 per copy.
The paper is available online in the white paper section of www.cunacouncils.org.
