MADISON, Wis. (01/31/2013) – The Credit Union National Association has added to its impressive lineup of speakers for the America's Credit Union Conference (ACUC) with the addition of keynote speaker Lyn Heward, Director of Creation for Cirque du Soleil.
“Lyn skillfully relates the wonder of Cirque performances to 'wow' results for credit unions,” said Jill Tomalin, CUNA Senior Vice President of Association Services. “We are pleased to offer member credit unions access to such a high-caliber speaker from one of the world’s greatest organizations.” CUNA's ACUC, considered the credit union event for leadership and progressive thinking, runs from June 30 through July 3 at the Hilton New York in New York City. Heward will take the stage on Tuesday, July 2.
Heward joins New York Times best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell and retired White House military officer, Lt. Col. Robert Darling. The conference also includes a slate of thought leader sessions ranging from leading in a multi-generational environment to assessing your credit union in the new economy. Attendees get added value from CUNA’s collaboration with CUNA Mutual and their popular Discovery sessions. These sessions deal with a host of emerging issues including generating non-interest income, the future of payments, effectively managing lending risk, and more. The optional ACUC executive series provides exclusive access to some of America’s brightest minds. ACUC also offers features new technology and products in its exhibit hall. Director of Creation for one of the world’s most imaginative and innovative companies, Cirque du Soleil, Lyn knows how to find and spark talent for big results. Her presentation and acclaimed book, The Spark: Igniting the Creative Fire that Lives Within Us All, draws on her experiences as former president and COO of Cirque’s Creative Content Division where she helped bring to life Cirque masterworks including Varekai, La Nouba, 'O,' Dralion, Zumanity and KA. Taking audiences behind stage to explore the nature and origins of creativity, she translates her experiences into practical advice on risk-taking, leadership, teamwork, product development, finding and developing talent, and fostering a dynamic organizational culture. She was also an associate producer for a portion of the 2006 Winter Olympics closing ceremonies.
