MADISON, Wis. (04/08/2013) - Jill Tomalin, a 13-year veteran of CUNA, has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, CUNA Madison. The promotion is effective immediately; she succeeds John Franklin, who retired from CUNA last month.
“Jill’s long experience in the credit union system, combined with her talents and conceptual vision, furnish her with unique insights to the challenges of this position and the needs of credit unions across the country,” said CUNA President and CEO Bill Cheney. “She’s committed herself to credit unions; this promotion gives her even greater opportunities to share that commitment.”
In her new role, Tomalin will oversee CUNA’s Center for Professional Development (CPD, the training and development arm of CUNA), information technology, the CUNA Councils, meetings and conferences and vendor sales.
She will also oversee CUNA Strategic Services (CSS), a joint venture of CUNA and the state credit union leagues to provide credit unions with access to high quality products, services and technologies delivered with a competitive advantage made possible through volume pricing and strategic program development.
These departments collectively provide products and services geared toward education and training, print and online publications, new product development, and other related services for credit unions, credit union employees and volunteer boards.
Tomalin’s most recent position with CUNA was senior vice president, Association Services, where she oversaw many of the same departments and functions she will continue to supervise in her new role.
She joined CUNA in 2000 as director of educational resources. Prior to that, she served in management roles for the Texas Credit Union League and Credit Union Executives Society (CUES).
She earned a BA and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a credit union development educator and a certified league executive.
