Kenneth Proctor
Ken brings 37 years of financial institution management and professional consulting experience to Abound Resources, where he heads up the risk management practice. Ken has managed the risk management practice areas for two national consulting firms serving the credit union and community banking industries. He also served as a senior consultant with two international risk management consulting firms and held responsible management positions in the internal consulting and auditing departments of two regional financial institutions.
Ken's broad experience includes completing risk assessments at over 500 credit unions and banks in the U.S., Latin America and Southeast Asia. Additionally, he has helped over 30 financial institutions manage compliance with regulatory enforcement actions, including consent agreements and written agreements, completed BSA/Anti-Money Laundering risk and compliance assessments, GLBA 501b information security reviews, Sarbanes-Oxley and FDICIA risk assessments and IT audits.
Ken is a certified public accountant and a certified bank auditor. He is a frequent speaker for financial institution industry conferences and seminars. He has managed workshops and delivered presentations to credit unions, banks and thrifts for regulatory authorities. For 10 years, Ken served on the faculty of the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking program, instructing in risk management. He has also authored numerous articles on risk management for various industry publications.
Kathleen Blanchard
Kathleen is a senior consultant with Abound Resources and has over 28 years consulting experience, including risk management and internal controls, compliance, lending, credit policy and procedures. She has served as BSA/AML/OFAC officer, privacy officer, compliance manager and risk manager.
Kathleen has extensive experience in BSA/AML audits and consulting, including BSA lookbacks, BSA program implementation. Her compliance experience includes extensive policy, procedure and loan documentation writing, and creation and implementation of complete compliance programs. She is a nationally recognized expert in CRA and HMDA and has also developed and implemented CRA and HMDA departments, credit scoring override monitoring systems, compliance training programs and compliance audit processes. Her credit background includes commercial and private banking lending, credit policy manager, workout loans and credit review. Kathleen also has experience with the development of member business lending policies and procedures, in conformity with NCUA regulatory guidelines.
Ron Brown
Ron is the president and CEO of CSI Group in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one of the oldest and largest asset investigation and recovery agencies in the Central Plains area. Ron is one of the country's most recognized speakers and authors on skip tracing and collections. Ron is also president of the Santa Fe Credit Union board of directors.
Ron, a state licensed private Investigator and member of the National Association of Fraud Investigators, has over 35 years of experience in the field of locating and recovering lost and missing people and assets and has assisted many law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Marshall's Service, U.S. Customs, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Texas Rangers.
The subject of numerous published articles related to his unique methods of locating people and assets he is internationally recognized as one of the leaders in the tracing and recovery Industry. Receiving the prestigious "Instructor of the Year" award from ACA International in 2002, 2004 and 2009, he now spends much of his time traveling as an instructor for ACA International, the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training and co-presenting the critically acclaimed "MANHUNT" and "CYBERTRACKER" seminars.
Ron is recognized as one of the key instructors of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Graham-Leach-Bliley Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act and has written many published articles on these ever-changing federal laws. He has also written opinions and given testimony regarding areas of "Breach of Peace" related to the recovery industry.
Having authored numerous articles and books on the subject of tracing and the utilization of neuro-linguistics in the psychology of motivation in the tracing and collection process, his latest endeavor has been to co-author the best seller, "MANHUNT: The Book".
Colleen Kelly
Colleen is the federal compliance counsel in the Credit Union National Association Regulatory Affairs Department. She analyzes regulations to determine their impact on the operations of credit unions and provides compliance information to credit unions through CUNA's CompBlog, NewsNow, eGuide to Federal Laws and Regulations, Credit Union Magazine and other resources. She works closely with CUNA's Center for Professional Development to provide educational products and programs to support credit unions' compliance efforts, and provides support to CUNA's lobbyists on consumer legislation.
Colleen has worked for CUNA for more than 17 years in both Regulatory Affairs and State Government Affairs. Prior to joining CUNA, she worked for the Colorado Credit Union League doing governmental affairs and regulatory compliance.
Valerie Moss
Valerie is director of compliance information for CUNA Regulatory Affairs in the Washington, DC office. Valerie works closely with CUNA's Publications and Web Services Departments to deliver useful and accurate compliance information in a user-friendly format to CUNA's members. She is the editor of both Credit Union Magazine's Compliance Matters and CUNA's e-Guide to Federal Laws and Regulations.
Barry Thompson
Barry has worked in the financial services industry for over three decades, holding the positions of security officer, compliance officer, treasurer, senior vice president and executive vice president. He is the only fraud educator in our industry who has worked in senior management positions, which affords him unique insight into financial institutions.
During his career, Barry has handled over 900 security cases. He has been involved with investigations and prosecutions on the federal, state and local levels, and has testified before grand juries, county courts, bankruptcy courts, family courts and the New York State Supreme Court.
Barry is also an internationally-recognized speaker who has appeared at many financial industry conferences. He has made presentations on communications, leadership, compliance and financial institution security - including presentations in Brussels to European bankers on internal fraud, at the United Nations on identity theft and to Japanese bankers on bank security.
Recognizing the increasing importance of compliance in the financial industry, he became a "Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager" in 1997.
Barry's professional and educational background, along with his "Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager" designation, provide him with a depth of experience that very few in the financial services industry can match.
Kyle Woodmansee
Kyle is a Compliance Specialist at PolicyWorks'. He works with individual credit unions to develop and review compliance procedures, perform compliance reviews related to the Bank Secrecy Act, conduct web audits, review policies and help credit unions ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Prior to joining PolicyWorks, Kyle was involved in a variety of compliance capacities related to collections and bankruptcy at Wells Fargo Financial for over 3 years. During this time he also headed up implementation processes, developed efficiencies, and built operating procedures that helped Wells Fargo Financial deal with the ever changing financial environment.
Suzanne Yashewski
Suzanne is the vice president of regulatory compliance & legal affairs, and she has served as legal counsel for the Texas Credit Union League (TCUL) since 2001. With her legal background, Suzanne assists credit unions in understanding complex legal and regulatory compliance issues through TCUL's Information Central. Information Central offers a hotline for all credit union staff, a compliance newsletter, a compliance web site, an online compliance manual, training, and more. Suzanne also serves as a credit union advocate in the regulatory process as well as legislative process.
Prior to working with credit unions, Suzanne practiced employment law. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and its employment law section, the American Bar Association and its credit union committee of the business law section, and the Austin Bar Association and its financial institutions section.
