Frank has worked with credit unions, banking and financial institutions, consumer and commercial lenders, and student loan agencies to enforce contracts, minimize losses, and fight fraud. As federal regulatory compliance has become increasingly complex, he also assists lenders with difficult compliance issues.
Joe is the chief credit officer for DFTC, Inc. with over 13 years' experience as an accountant, a senior commercial lender, commercial credit analyst and a sales/business development officer. He has worked in a number of financial institutions and industries in the private sector. Joe's broad range of experience provides a unique blend of skilled credit analysis and business relationship development acumen.
Over the course of Joe's career, he has managed sizable commercial loan portfolios and has underwritten in excess of half a billion dollars in C&I and CRE loans. Specifically, Joe has extensive underwriting knowledge with small to mid-sized hospitality facilities, retail shopping centers, church and religious organizations, multi-tenant office/mixed use properties and multi-family facilities. In recent years, he has spearheaded the start-up and growth of commercial lending operations and subsequent portfolio management for financial institutions. His scope of knowledge spans all facets of commercial loan policy, regulatory compliance, commercial loan types and structures, and the intricacies of commercial loan origination. His experience enables Joe to provide "real world" solutions for the challenges faced by front line commercial lenders. His accounting background and commercial underwriting certifications give Joe a robust understanding of financial data, financial reporting and financial analysis.
With over 25 years as a commercial lender working for some of the largest banks in the country, Dana brings a practical, hands on approach to commercial lending and senior management. In the capacity of senior commercial lender, he had the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of commercial lending. In 2003, Dana started Development Finance Training and Consulting Inc. to offer commercial loan training and consulting services nationally. He has trained thousands of lenders across the country in the areas of portfolio management, risk management, ALLL management, credit analysis, loan underwriting, problem loan resolution, documentation, financial analysis and entrepreneurial assistance.
Dana has provided programs for the Credit Union National Association, Small Business Administration, National Association of Development Organizations, Rural Development, USDA., New England College of Finance, Credit Union and bank associations and numerous individual banks and credit unions. In addition to facilitating commercial credit training, Dana has worked one on one with banks and credit unions nationwide in establishing and improving all areas of their commercial lending departments. This has included pre-regulatory loan exam, correspondent banking review, FAS 114 and FAS 5 methodology, large credit underwriting, participations, policy and procedure creation and process implementation. He has also provided senior management assistance to financial institutions by working as interim CEO and Senior Lender during times of transition. Dana has considerable experience working with NCUA and state regulatory bodies to turn credit unions around that have been placed in Special Actions, issued Cease and Desist orders and DOR compliance.
Mike is assistant general and senior compliance counsel at Credit Union National Association (CUNA) in Madison, Wisconsin and is licensed to practice law in both Ohio and Pennsylvania. He works with CUNA's Center for Professional Development to ensure its products and services are in compliance with and accurately portray federal regulations affecting credit unions. He also answers compliance questions from state credit union leagues and credit unions. Mike is also a regular contributor of compliance related articles to CU Magazine.
Prior to joining CUNA's legal department, Mike served for approximately ten years as vice president and corporate counsel for a $300 million credit union in northeast Ohio and held the same positions for nearly two years at a $500 million credit union in central Pennsylvania.
