Steve Rick is the senior economist for CUNA's Economics & Statistics Department. Steve has been with CUNA since January, 1992. He conducts economic research, teaches and lectures at various credit union schools and conferences across the country and internationally and writes articles for CUNA publications. Steve facilitates strategic planning sessions for credit union board of directors. He has authored a textbook on asset-liability management for credit union executives.
Steve is a faculty member of the Economics Department at the University of Wisconsin where he teaches Money & Banking, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics. He also has two years experience as a bank simulation advisor for a computerized bank simulation game for the Prochnow Graduate School of Banking.
Mr. Rick has a B.A. in Economics from Moorhead State University; a B.S. in Finance from Moorhead University; and a M.S. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is also a Ph.D. candidate for a doctoral degree in Economics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Owen currently serves as the director of the Division of Capital and Credit Markets. As DCCM director, he manages the Capital Markets and initiatives for the agency. The capital markets division develops agency policies and procedures related to credit union investments and asset liability management. He also is the president of the NCUA Central Liquidity Facility (CLF). The CLF was created to improve general financial stability by providing funds to meet the liquidity needs of credit unions.
Robert is a financial advisor with ALM First Financial Advisors, responsible for advising multiple financial institution clients on asset liability management and investment strategy. In this role, he also performs scenario analyses and portfolio reviews for clients. Before joining ALM First, Mr. Perry served as managing director of the ALM and Investment Strategy division of DataTech Management in Los Angeles, California, and chief investment officer for First Coastal Bank in Manhattan Beach. Previously, Mr. Perry was a principal and product portfolio manager at Smith Breeden Associates, Inc., where he managed Smith Breeden's Enhanced Cash and Enhanced Equity Strategies. He also managed Smith Breeden's bank consulting group, which included the non-discretionary asset management and risk reporting businesses.
Marito is a finance industry veteran with more than 20 years of finance, investment and capital markets experience. Before joining First Tech, Marito served as the executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Irvine, Calif.-based First PacTrust Bancorp and PacTrust Bank. In addition, he acted as the principal and founder of Decision Advisors, providing business strategy and consulting services to banks and financial investors. In his previous positions, he worked closely with the Board of Directors and Risk Management Committees to provide business strategy and staff management. Marito received his Master's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the honor society and graduated with distinction.
