Tracy is an instructional design manager at the Credit Union National Association. She is responsible for the design and production of compliance-related educational materials for credit unions and leagues. These responsibilities include developing, implementing and administering CU Advance RegTraC courses, CUNA Bank Secrecy Act Conference, compliance related audio conferences and webinars as well as all compliance related books and manuals.
In his role as compliance officer for PolicyWorks, Michael assists credit unions across the country with implementing their mortgage lending programs; ensuring those programs are compliant with federal regulations. Additionally, he provides training and education services to credit union lending professionals, keeping them up-to-date on current laws and regulations and helping them strategically plan for upcoming compliance changes. Michael brings to PolicyWorks more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry in a variety of legal and compliance related positions.
Frank is a partner at the Raleigh-based firm of Smith Debnam Narron Drake Saintsing & Myers LLP where he concentrates his law practice in the areas of creditors' rights, creditors' bankruptcy and commercial litigation.
Combining 30 years of practical legal experience with a robust, energetic communication style, Frank lectures from his sizeable repertoire of topics, typically of interest to those in the financial industry. Whether leading a basic training on bankruptcy or teaching a seminar on hot compliance issues, Frank has a flair for presenting technical material in an entertaining way sending his audience away with useful tips and practical resources.
Frank has worked with credit unions, banking and financial institutions, consumer and commercial lenders, and student loan agencies to enforce contracts, minimize losses, and fight fraud. As federal regulatory compliance has become increasingly complex, he also assists lenders with difficult compliance issues.
Jared is senior assistant general counsel in Credit Union National Association's (CUNA) Regulatory Advocacy department. He is currently focusing his efforts on consumer protection regulations and developments, and follows the activities of the Federal Reserve Board, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, NCUA and other agencies in this context. Jared also monitors mortgage lending legal and regulatory issues as they relate to the area of consumer protection, and the potential impact to credit union lending and operation functions. Jared serves as the primary staff liaison to CUNA's Consumer Protection Subcommittee.
Christy Curtis Jones
Christy Curtis Jones is an attorney and shareholder with Sherpy & Jones, P.A. She graduated with honors from the College of Charleston and received her J.D. from USC School of Law. She was an Associate Articles Editor for the South Carolina Law Review and a member of the Order of the Wig & Robe. Ms. Jones has served as an adjunct professor at USC School of Law, teaching legal writing to first year students. She currently concentrates her practice in the areas of creditor/debtor rights, bankruptcy, collections, and foreclosure. Ms. Jones is a regular speaker at the South Carolina Credit Union League. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association, and is admitted to practice before the South Carolina Federal Court, District of South Carolina.
David is the regulatory & compliance attorney for LendKey Technologies, Inc., a provider of cutting-edge cloud-based lending technology available to lenders who provide private student loans, in addition to other loan products. David has extensive experience related to student lending compliance, consumer credit and employment law. Prior to joining LendKey, David worked for a full-service marketing agency representing professional athletes.
Andrea is the corporate marketing director for Silanis Technology, where she has been since 1999. In this role, she oversees industry marketing strategy, market awareness and demand generation within key industry segments, specifically insurance, banking and financial services. Andrea's 15 years of experience in the electronic signature market includes producing more than one hundred educational webcasts and seminars, authoring dozens of white papers and active participation in industry electronic signature and process improvement workgroups.
Valerie is director of compliance information for CUNA Regulatory Affairs in the Washington, DC office. In this position, Valerie is responsible for writing articles on various compliance issues of interest to credit unions, maintaining CUNA's e-Guide to Federal Laws and Regulations, and responding to credit unions' compliance inquiries. In addition to these duties, Ms. Moss assists CUNA's Political Affairs Department and the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) in complying with Federal Election Commission regulations.
Attorney, author, consultant and nationally recognized speaker, David is a partner in the law firm of Reed and Jolly, PLLC and founder of CU Doctor, a full service credit union consulting practice. Through Reed and Jolly, David provides guidance to credit unions concerning a variety of matters including the establishment and revision of credit union policies and procedures, organizational compliance, collections, security, contractual agreements, regulatory matters and corporate governance.
David is particularly noted as an expert in the areas of credit union operations, bankruptcy and collections. He has been selected to train NCUA Field Examination and Audit Staff on numerous issues including ID Theft Red Flags, S.A.F.E Act, Third Party Contract Management and Bankruptcy matters.
Dan is a certified public accountant who began his career as a financial statement auditor. He is currently a manager and senior analyst at Twenty Twenty Analytics. He develops analytic models for credit unions to identify credit and concentration risks and growth opportunities hidden in data files.
Dan stays current on NCUA regulations and FASB standards to determine how they affect the design of risk models and reporting requirements for credit unions and shares this information by authoring the Twenty Twenty Analytics Blog. He has given presentations throughout the United States on various topics ranging from TDRs and the allowance for loan losses to using loan portfolio analytics to evaluate indirect dealer performance.
Barry has worked in the financial services industry for over three decades, holding the positions of security officer, compliance officer, treasurer, senior vice president and executive vice president. He is the only fraud educator in our industry who has worked in senior management positions, which affords him unique insight into financial institutions.
During his career, Barry has handled over 900 security cases. He has been involved with investigations and prosecutions on the federal, state and local levels, and has testified before grand juries, county courts, bankruptcy courts, family courts and the New York State Supreme Court.
Barry is also an internationally-recognized speaker who has appeared at many financial industry conferences. He has made presentations on communications, leadership, compliance and financial institution security - including presentations in Brussels to European bankers on internal fraud, at the United Nations on identity theft and to Japanese bankers on bank security.
Kathleen (Kathy) is senior vice president of compliance and legislative analysis for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). For almost 30 years, she has represented credit unions before the National Credit Union Administration, the Federal Reserve Board, the Treasury Department, the Federal Trade Commission, and other federal agencies. She is currently focusing her efforts on increasing CUNA's compliance information to leagues and credit unions, and on providing assistance in the drafting of legislation and the preparation of testimony for Congress. Kathleen appears regularly before credit union groups to discuss current congressional and regulatory events and to present compliance seminars.
