BA/BS degree in Education, Business Administration or equivalent work experience. 4 years instructional design & development; 2 years supervision or management experience; 2 years coordination of face-to-face adult training programs; 2 years fiscal/budgetary management experience, 2 years of experience in design & delivery of on-line adult training programs. Must produce annual goals/objectives, business plans, and budgets. Must have the ability to manage people with an indirect organizational relationship. Excellent public speaking, writing, communication and leadership skills needed. Must have the ability to work well with all levels of staff. Must be able to travel 60-70 days per year. Additional skills include project management, statistical analysis, creativity, decision-making, innovation, initiative, word processing, spreadsheet, windows, multi-media software, synchronous software and equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for researching, developing, implementing, evaluating, monitoring and maintaining educational programs/events that meet the critical credit union staff/management/volunteer training needs. Over 65% of the attendees of these programs are from credit unions with greater than $100 million in assets. This involves: (1) creating curriculum that is timely and relevant to current credit union concerns; (2) developing and designing curricula based on sound adult instructional design principles, as well as research, focus groups, evaluation and assessment results; (3) continually working with appropriate councils, industry experts, school alumni, and credit unions not currently using the programs, to validate curricula and program design; (4) selecting, building highly experiential and innovative activities with, negotiating fees with, scheduling, and coaching high quality faculty who are well versed in their subject areas, as well as being highly qualified adult educators; (5) ensuring faculty provide high quality, comprehensive instructional support materials for students and recommending additional pre-work, post-work, or during session exercises/activities where appropriate; (6) determining the appropriate delivery channel and blended- learning components for the content.
Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and revision of additional tangential programs and projects relating to credit union staff/management/volunteer training needs. Special projects may include the development and creation of certificate programs, training programs, consulting services, league relationships, serving as CPD liaison with CUNA Council's Executive Committees and/or other projects deemed appropriate by the AVP of Learning Events.
Responsible for ongoing on-site, online, and audio evaluation of all curriculum real time, as well as feedback and coaching to instructors real time, assisting instructors in modifying content and creating exercises/activities as appropriate. Other on-site and online duties include coordination of assigned schools/events including conference weaving activities, webinar and audio facilitation, coordinating student registration, conducting student orientation, making faculty introductions and announcements, facilitating student discussions, and acting as back-up in case of last minute faculty cancellations. Work with hotel/property to ensure all meetings rooms, meals, and hotel rooms meet contract specifications. Act as emergency contact to all program participants and faculty. Accountable for serving as liaison between CPD and credit unions meeting all CPD internal audit travel/meeting guidelines.
Responsible for coaching and providing leadership support to staff. Provide guidance as needed to a Program Coordinator, Learning Events. Participate in the process of performance evaluations for the coordinators annually.
Responsible for preparing, administering, adjusting and projecting a budget and business plan for each assigned program. Responsible for meeting attendance, financial, and educational goals for each program. Continually review expenses and make changes to programs as needed to meet or exceed overall budgets.
Responsible for maintaining expertise in adult training techniques and the financial services industry and then incorporating this expertise into current programming and/or the creation of new programs. This would include on-going research & development of adult instructional design techniques, reviewing curriculum both inside & outside of the credit union industry, staying current on CUNA initiatives, as well as industry related developments.
Work with Meetings and Special Events to select the best training environments/locations for assigned schools/events; determine food and beverage requirements, room set-up, audio visual needs, faculty and student accommodations needs, and other logistics. Work with National Marketing on creation of marketing materials to include providing content for program brochures, flyers, emails, etc. and to make appropriate recommendations on marketing efforts for all assigned programs.
