Responsibilities also include development and implementation of risk-based audit plans, including audits, special projects, and investigation, along with the evaluation and assessment of significant risk associated with new/merging/consolidating functions that impact services, processes, operations, and controls. Barron has more than 20 years of experience in finance and audit. Prior to joining CUNA in 1998, she served as the internal auditor for a battery manufacturer and an insurance company. Additional experiences include work as a bank examiner, farmer, commodities market analyst, and as a cost accountant for a large financial institution. She currently serves as a member of the Great Wisconsin Credit Union's Supervisory Committee. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with emphasis in economics from Transylvania University, in Lexington, Ken. This is supplemented with 21 additional hours of accounting from Austin Peay State University, in Clarksville, Tenn. In 2007, she received her certification as a Credit Union Financial Counselor from CUNA.
