RICHARD MCBRIDE
Richard McBride is executive vice president, chief operating officer, and chief of staff for the
Credit Union National Association (CUNA) based in Washington, D.C. In his position, he oversees the
day-to-day operations of CUNA’s Washington offices, which provide political, legislative, regulatory,
legal, public relations, public affairs, state government affairs, and other services for state
leagues and credit unions.
Prior to joining CUNA in August 1996, McBride served in senior positions in the U.S. government and on Capitol Hill. His service in the federal government includes director of budget and planning for the International Broadcasting Bureau and executive director of the Board for International Broadcasting.
On Capitol Hill from 1983 to 1993, McBride served as staff director of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Operations and as senior staff consultant on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Prior to his Washington tenure, McBride managed a family-owned business in Florida and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.
