2009 Attorneys' Conference

This year’s conference will be held Sunday, November 15th – Wednesday, November 18th at The Ritz Carlton, San Juan Hotel, Spa & Casino, Puerto Rico.

Conference Agenda

This year’s conference sessions were chosen from the survey responses and current areas of interest to attendees. Here is the Agenda. A final Agenda will be available upon your arrival. Please refer to that document for the most current information. Thank you to those of you who agreed to act as presenters.

Conference Registration

We recommend you register by September 15th to take advantage of our early registration discount. Please return your conference registration form and payment directly to Credit Union National Association, Inc. either by mail, fax or on-line registration as directed. You will receive confirmation of your registration and additional information including a personal code you will need to obtain the conference rate when making your hotel reservations. We will attempt to process confirmations within 3-5 business days after registration.

Check in will be Sunday at 2:30-5:00 and before the general sessions M-T & W

Travel Plans

We advise you to make your travel arrangements well in advance to secure the most desirable flights. United Airlines is offering a discount on travel for our event. Please use code 553SF when making a reservation with United and book directly with the United MeetingsPlus Reservation Center at 1-800-521-4041 or visit www.united.com The hotel is only minutes from the airport. Taxi service is plentiful to and from the hotel, airport and leisure destinations. You may not need a rental car unless your leisure plans call for it.

Hotel Reservations

The cut-off date for hotel reservations is October 1, 2009. Rooms are available in our block at $199, $239 and $269 for either city, pool or ocean view rooms. There are a limited number of rooms in each category and they will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Social Events

Social events for the conference include the Welcome Reception for attendees and registered guests held on Sunday night at the hotel’s beach front bar, the Ocean Grill. The reception will include cocktails and desserts. There will also be a Group Dinner on Tuesday evening for all attendees and registered guests held at the pool terrace. Complimentary drink tickets will be distributed at registration for your use at both social gatherings. Breakfast for attendees and registered guests will be served Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the Vista Mar Terrace near the meeting rooms. Additional spouse/guest activities and spa services can be arranged directly with the Concierge.

Special Session

One of our sessions this year will be a corporate governance session intended to be a lively exchange of ideas and experiences attendees have faced in their practice. We are looking for attendees to share issues that may involve conflicts of interest, voting disputes, board responsibilities or other pertinent topics or experiences. Relatively few board governance issues have “look-up-the-answer” solutions. We hope this will be a lively exchange of ideas that we can all learn from. Continuing Legal Education Credit

Again this year we will provide a generic application form for each of you to apply for continuing legal education credit. Each attendee is responsible for submitting the accreditation form (and necessary materials) to their state bar associations. We will be happy to cooperate with you in meeting the particular requirements for your state. If your state requires advance approval, please let us know as soon as possible so that information can be sent accordingly.

ABA Credit Union Committee
