CUNA's Renaissance
The Renaissance Commission was created by CUNA's Board to explore credit unions' role in the 21st Century and determine the legislative and regulatory changes needed to enhance that role in the future. The CUNA Board formed a commission representing every size and type of credit union. The Commission was charged with issuing a report on the needs of credit unions for the future. The subsequent report was presented in June, 2001 to CUNA's Governmental Affairs Committee for further review and debate. Finally, recommendations in the form of four vision statements were presented to the CUNA Board. The Board adopted these vision statements, making them part of CUNA's longterm legislative and regulatory policies, by unanimous vote on October 30, 2001.
