Frank Pollack Will Chair Credit Union Renaissance Commission

June 21, 2000

Frank Pollack, President & CEO of Pentagon Federal Credit Union in Alexandria, Virginia, has been named Chairman of the Credit Union Renaissance Commission, charged with developing a blueprint for credit unions' legislative and regulatory future.

"I'm thrilled he agreed to take on this assignment," said CUNA Chairman Dave Maus, who will work with Pollack to name 18- 24 commission members over the next several weeks. "Frank brings respected leadership and a thorough knowledge of the credit union environment to this most important effort. I am confident that this is the first in a series of positive steps in the commission's work."

The Renaissance Commission will include leaders from credit unions of all sizes, charter types, and regions. They will develop plans over the next year to enhance the federal and state credit union charters.

"The chairmanship of this commission is a great honor and tremendous challenge," Pollack said. "We must and will garner the input of credit unions across the spectrum as we work to author a coordinated, comprehensive plan for the System to achieve our ultimate goal: enhancement of the credit union charter so we can better serve all of our members' needs."

Pollack joined Pentagon FCU in 1978 as a loan portfolio analyst. He moved up through the ranks to become Executive VP of Operations in 1997, then President & CEO in 1999.

Pollack is no stranger to innovation. At his credit union, Pollack has helped implement call centers, mini-branches, strategic branches and electronic systems. He was also closely involved in developing the credit union's proprietary ATM network and insurance CUSO.
