RICHARD DINES
Director of League Relations
Richard is Director of League Relations for CUNA and AACUL. Prior to joining CUNA, he was
Vice President for Mission Banking at the National Cooperative Bank, a Congressionally chartered
financial institution serving cooperative businesses. In this position, he managed cooperative
development programs, efforts to serve low-income populations, charitable activites, and
environmental sustainability projects. Before working at NCB, he worked at the National
Cooperative Business Association for eleven years. At NCBA, he coordinated membership recruitment
and retention, conferences, public policy advocacy, and .coop domain name sales. He also worked
for the City of New York in the Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
Richard is a Credit Union Development Educator (Class of 2000) and a member of the California
State and U.S. Supreme Court Bars. He attended the University of California, Hastings College
of the Law (J.D., 1993), the University of North Carolina (M. Regional Planning, 1989), and the
University of Michigan (B.A., 1986). He has testified before Congress, has made presentations
at many conferences and has been quoted and published in numerous publications.
Richard was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and now resides in Arlington, Virginia with
his wife and two daughters.
