Learn More About OneID

CUNA offers OneID to our CUNA.org users as a secure and convenient way to sign in on our site. This service allows users to click or tap to sign in to CUNA.org without needing a username and password.

What is OneID?
OneID is a digital identity solution that replaces your username and password on CUNA.org – letting you log in with a single click.

OneID is free to use and setting up a OneID account is quick, happening right from our site.  Set up includes a OneID mobile app, which is available for iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices.

OneID keeps your information private and under your control. Only you choose when and where to share your OneID online – on CUNA.org and elsewhere that OneID is accepted.

How do I get started with OneID on CUNA.org?
There are two scenarios for CUNA.org users, those who have a CUNA.org login and those who don’t.  Below outlines the steps for each use case.

CUNA.org account holder:

  1. Go to www.cuna.org and sign in with your username and password, for the last time!
  2. When you have signed in, click 'View Your Profile'. On your profile, click ‘Link account with OneID.’ This will link your CUNA.org login to your newly created OneID account.
  3. Next time you want to log in at CUNA.org, simply click Sign In with OneID.

To get the other benefits of OneID, go to account.oneid.com and complete your profile information. OneID lets you share your personal information in a click or tap, wherever OneID is integrated.

Non-CUNA.org account holder:

  1. Go to www.cuna.org and click ‘Create Account’
  2. Complete your account set up, which will put you on your account page. Click ‘Link account with OneID.’ This will link your CUNA.org login to your newly created OneID account.
  3. Next time you want to log in at CUNA.org, simply click Sign In with OneID.

To get the other benefits of OneID, go to account.oneid.com and complete your profile information. OneID lets you share your personal information in a click or tap, wherever OneID is integrated.

How does OneID work?
OneID recognizes you through your device(s), rather than from information, like your username and password.  When you register for a OneID account, OneID put unique keys on your device(s) and it’s those keys that work together to unlock your identifying and personal information.  To learn more about OneID’s technology, click here.

Who provides OneID support?
Should you have any questions about OneID, please refer to support.oneid.com.  You can also email OneID directly at support@oneid.com. OneID responds to emails within one business day.

What makes OneID so secure?
OneID is based on a combination of public and private key cryptography – using both your device(s) and OneID’s secure cloud repository.  Think of the safe deposit box.  To open it, you need your key and a key from your credit union.  These two keys must both be present and working for you to access that safe deposit box.  If one key is not present, access is denied.  Your OneID account works much the same way, with your device and the OneID cloud holding the keys.

So, when you try to login at a OneID-enabled site, like CUNA.org, these ‘keys’ are requested. With them, you’re in with a click. Without them – access is denied.

And if you happen to lose your device, you can easily disable it in your OneID account so its access is blocked.  Again, putting you in control of your information.

Where else can I use OneID?
OneID is accepted at various sites across the web.  See where.
