Revised statement stuffers address e-banking, phishing
MADISON, Wis. (11/9/05)--Four statement stuffers from Credit Union National Association (CUNA) address the fast-changing environment of transactions and how consumers can better educate themselves about certain risks.
"Online Banking: Fast, Simple, Safe" outlines services, benefits and convenience of online banking. It explains the many layers of security that help safeguard members when performing online transactions and what they should watch out for to avoid compromising their own information.
Consumers with e-mails addresses likely have received a "phishing" e-mail. The stuffer "Phishing: Don't Take the Bait" describes how members can throw those lunkers back into the water and protect themselves against identity theft.
"Credit Counselors Help Balance the Bills" explains to consumers how to weed out unscrupulous credit counselors and find the right agency to help them get out of debt.
CUNA revised its statement stuffer, "Payday Loans: The Hard Truth About Some 'Easy' Money," to include the proliferation of payday lenders on street corners and on the Internet.
