CU reopens St. Charles Parish branch in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La. (11/3/05)--A credit union branch and several shared-branching outlets have opened in the New Orleans area.

GTE FCU, a Tampa, Fla.-based credit union with branches in Louisiana, began restoring member service to the area southwest of New Orleans when it re-opened its Boutte branch in St. Charles Parish on Oct. 12, according to the Louisiana Credit Union League (LCUL) (eNews Nov. 2).

The branch is one of four GTE FCU branches in the New Orleans area. Two others remain closed because they are in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.

Greater New Orleans FCU opened an additional shared-branching outlet in Metairie, where transactions can be conducted in the drive-thru.

Other shared-branching outlets now reporting operational status are:

  • Greater New Orleans FCU, Mandeville;
  • La Capitol FCU, Metairie;
  • Louisiana Public Health Workers FCU, Metairie;
  • New Orleans Firemen's FCU, New Orleans;
  • Post Office Employees CU, both Covington and Harvey outlets; and
  • Tulane-Loyola FCU, New Orleans.
