Louisiana league, shared branch back in Orleans offices

HARAHAN, La. (12/1/05)--The Louisiana Credit Union League and CU Cooperative Branching LLC (CUCB), Louisiana's shared-branching network, have reopened their offices in the New Orleans area.

They were forced to evacuate their offices during Hurricane Katrina (eNews (Nov. 30). Since the hurricane, the league had operated from Baton Rouge since early September. It re-opened its pre-Katrina location in Harahan Monday.

A few league staffers are wrapping things up in Baton Rouge this week and will join their co-workers soon at the original location. The league's phone number is 800-452-7221.

"We'd like to express our thanks to Rhonda Linzy and her staff at Bayou FCU for hosting us these last few months," said league President/CEO Anne Cochran.

CU Cooperative Branching reopened its doors in Metairie on Friday. The service center sustained flooding and mold damage. Because of current staff availability, hours at the center will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday. The phone number is (504) 455-7764.

Since the hurricane, six Louisiana and two Mississippi credit unions joined shared branching as part of their disaster recovery plan. CUCU also is working with 15 other credit unions and their data processors to connect them to the network by the end of the year.
