Louisiana CUs continue to raise money for bulletproof vests
HARAHAN, La. (7/21/06)--Louisiana credit unions continue to help out their community by raising money to help purchase bulletproof vests for the New Orleans Police Department.
The Louisiana Credit Union League has promoted the fund-raising drive, which so far has brought in more than $11,000 to help replace bulletproof vests lost in last year's hurricane (eNews July 19).
The police department is "protecting our neighborhoods every day without the security of a bulletproof vest," said Anne Cochran, league president/CEO. "The state's credit unions are proud to contribute to the safety of New Orleans' officers and the rebuilding of our communities."
