Carolinas foundation awards $10,500 in microgrants to 2 agencies
GREENSBORO, N.C. (11/28/06)--Rescue missions in Raleigh and Durham, N.C., each received a $10,500 microgrant from the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation.
The grants will be used to update laundry facilities at the two agencies. The rescue mission grants were submitted in cooperation with the 27 credit unions that make up the Tarheel Chapter (Weekly Update Nov. 16).
The laundry facilities will be renovated to accept tokens, which the clients will earn by going through the rescue missions' programs.
The grants were awarded during the chapter's Nov. 14 meeting.
In its first full year, the Micro Community Grant program has disbursed nearly $200,000 to nonprofit agencies in North and South Carolina.
