H&FF Radio available for local stations
WASHINGTON and MADISON, Wis. (9/25/07)--Credit unions can help bring the popular Home & Family Finance Radio consumer finance show to their local radio stations.
The free, ready-to-go, hour-long show, which airs Sundays at 3 p.m. ET on the Radio America Network, is available for nationwide broadcasting through local stations. The program is hosted by Washington, D.C., broadcaster Paul Berry and sponsored by America's Credit Unions. It offers consumers practical financial advice and features several spots explaining the credit union difference.
The program can be offered to local stations on a "barter basis," where the station would receive the completed show at no cost and receive time within the show allotted for use of local commercials.
Credit unions interested in getting the program in its area can contact the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) with the contact information for a local talk-radio station. The station does not have to be affiliated with Radio America. CUNA will work with Radio America's marketing staff in approaching the station, if the credit union prefers.
Credit unions also can put a link to the show, which includes podcasts, on their webwsite and offer it as a member service.
"They provide the air time, we provide the show, and both receive commercial time within the show," said Susan Tiffany, director of adult publications at CUNA's center for personal finance. "The key is to get it on the air on more stations and make it available to members of the community."
It is not suggested that a credit union or group of credit unions purchase an entire hour of time or carry the show. Credit unions and leagues can use the local advertising time available at their discretion, for either community awareness or direct marketing.
More than 550 radio stations connect to the current Radio America list, and more than 1,400 news/talk radio stations broadcast across the nation. H&FF Radio, which is fairly new, airs on 36 stations so far.
