Mica: Bankers boast about stopping 'underserved' service
WASHINGTON (4/19/07)--Bankers are boasting how they stopped credit unions in 2006 from "serving the underserved"--and somebody ought to put an end to it, Credit Union National Association (CUNA) President/CEO Dan Mica says in his latest "Mica Minute" video blog posting.
Referring to recent articles published by the American Bankers Association, Mica comments "I can't believe the bankers would brag about stopping credit unions from serving the underserved," while at the same time lobbying on Capitol Hill that credit unions are not doing enough to serve the underserved.
"That's absurd," Mica says, "and we ought to let people know about that."
