What is CULAC?
The Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) is the federal PAC for the Credit Union National
Association (CUNA). CULAC’s purpose is to contribute to and to support federal candidates and committees
that support the Credit Union Movement. For the 2005-2006 election cycle, CULAC contributed over $2.9
million to credit union-friendly candidates, ranking it the 10th largest PAC in the United States and
the 6th largest among trade associations in contributions to federal candidates, according to the
Federal Election Commission (FEC). During that same cycle, credit union members made over
42,000 individual contributions totaling over $3.78 million.
Only those individuals who are associated with CUNA’s member credit union leagues and with credit
unions that have signed
permission agreements
with their leagues are eligible to participate in CULAC.
(Credit unions may only grant permission for PAC solicitation to one trade association per year). For
more information about CULAC, contact your league, or
Trey Hawkins at CUNA.
