Credit Union Political Spotlight

Dallas W. Bergl

Dallas W. BerglThe "Political Spotlight” shines on Dallas Bergl, President & CEO of Bayer Federal Credit Union in Elkhart, Indiana. Dallas has worked in the credit union industry for nearly two decades and caught the political bug during his tour of duty in the United States Army. While serving with the U.S. Army Honor Guard as part of the Presidential Escort, Dallas participated in numerous ceremonies at the White House and U.S. Capitol.

In 2002, Indiana’s 2nd U.S. House district seat was vacated by the retiring Rep. Tim Roemer. "At that point it occurred to me that if I wanted to have a substantial impact on who was to fill that seat I would have to become more involved in the process than I ever had in the past”, said Dallas. Dallas contacted Chris Chocola who was running to fill the IN-2 seat. Impressed by Mr. Chocola, Dallas began fundraising for the campaign and shortly thereafter began to serve on Chocola’s Finance Committee. In November 2002, Chris Chocola was elected to the United States House of Representatives representing Indiana’s second district.

"As a result of giving some of my time and money to a cause in which I believe, a rich relationship has developed between my organization and our Congressional team”, said Dallas. "I would encourage everyone to step forward regardless of their political convictions and become more involved in the process of government, it is rewarding both personally and professionally.”
