State Leagues Statement of Commitment to Members

Oregon Credit Union League Statement of Commitment to
Member Credit Unions

As an organization, which exists solely to meet the needs and represent the interests of credit unions, the Oregon Credit Union League is committed to our member credit unions - to credit union members, volunteers and staff - and to the Credit Union System.

We will uphold our fundamental responsibility to serve member credit unions in our state, and as appropriate those credit unions currently unaffiliated. We will treat all credit unions with respect and dignity. We will deliver a range of products and services designed to meet the needs and reflect the diversity of our credit unions. We will support credit unions in their efforts to improve the financial well being of people.

We will look for new and better ways to support our smaller credit unions. We will actively promote the concept of reaching out to serve all segments of credit unions' diverse and wide ranging memberships. And just as credit unions continually, in all facets of operations, demonstrate the value of membership, so will the Oregon Credit Union League, continually and in all facets of operations, demonstrate the value of belonging to the League.

We will communicate the credit union difference in our state and in our nation's Capitol so that credit union members and potential members, legislators, regulators and the community at large will understand and appreciate the unique role that member-owned financial cooperatives play in the lives of people everywhere.

We will demonstrate our commitment to the Credit Union Movement by fostering a strong chapter network in this state; by doing business with System-affiliated organizations whenever possible; by participating in national advocacy efforts; by addressing global credit union development concerns through support of the National Credit Union Foundation and of the World Council of Credit Unions; and by always working together with CUNA and other System organizations to strengthen and build credit unions domestically and internationally.

We believe in the Credit Union Philosophy of "People Helping People". More importantly, we believe credit unions practice this Philosophy every day.

This statement of commitment to member credit unions is consistent with
our league mission statement:

"To promote, support, and assist the development and progress of member credit unions."
