MADISON, Wis. – The CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council is currently accepting applications for a number of scholarships aimed at improving education, skills, and opportunities for credit union employees working in marketing and business development fields.

A total of four scholarships will be allocated, each one for up to $1,500.

Two scholarships will be awarded for the twelfth annual CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council Conference - one to a marketing professional and one to a business development professional - taking place March 16-19, 2005, in Palm Springs, Calif. Both winners will receive a complimentary enrollment for the conference and all pre-conference workshops in order for the allocation to be used for hotel and airfare expenses.

The remaining scholarships will be conferred for regular session registration and other related expenses for the 2005 sessions of CUNA’s Marketing Management School (Part I, Part II, or Part III) and Business Development School (Part I or Part II). One award will be given for each school with the recipient choosing which part to attend.

The education subcommittee, led by Mary Olson, vice president of marketing and training for Delta Employees Credit Union and Susan Miller, business development manager for Georgia Federal Credit Union, will decide winners. Selection is based on financial need and commitment to the marketing or business development profession.

To be eligible, all applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a current member of this council. If the honoree is not currently a member, a portion of the stipend will be used to cover the first year’s membership dues for the council;
  • Be a full time credit union employee whose primary duties include marketing and/or business development; and,
  • Be willing and able to take an active role in the council and the conference.

All application and collateral materials must be received by the following deadlines, depending on which of the scholarships the candidate is requesting:

  • CUNA Marketing and Business Development Conference - by Jan. 31, 2005;
  • CUNA Business Development School - by Dec. 20, 2004; and,
  • CUNA Marketing School - by April 16, 2005.
