MADISON, WI –The Strategic Planning Institute offered by CUNA’s Center for Professional Development is a unique program that blends real-
time research and marketplace knowledge with facilitated strategy development.

Held April 1-4, 2001 in San Diego, California or June 10-13, 2001 in St. Pete Beach Florida, the Strategic Planning Institute will help participants discover how to develop and execute strategies that enhance their credit union’s current and future performance.

The Institute will be facilitated by George Towle of The ProCon Group, Ltd. and Michael Miller, VP of the Center for Professional Development for CUNA.

Setting strategic direction for your organization is no longer an annual event,” says Miller, noting that ‘business time’ and ‘Internet time’ are merging to create a much more accelerated rate of change in the business marketplace. “Strategic thinking must be a daily process ingrained at every level, in every employee.”

Participants in the Institute will hear from these informed instructors:

  • Steve Rick, Economist for CUNA & Affiliates Economics & Statistics Department
  • Katie Slater, VP of Consumer Information Services, PSI Global
  • Mark Sievewright, President & CEO of TowerGroup
  • Jim Eckenrode, Director of Research for Consumer Banking at TowerGroup.

Topics covered include:

  • Today’s Business Environment
  • CU Members Today and Tomorrow
  • The Future of Technology in the Financial Services Industry
  • Building your Credit Union’s Strategic Plan
  • Executing the Plan

As one of last year’s participants put it, ‘business has moved from ready, aim, fire to ready, fire, aim to fire, fire, fire!” With the Strategic Planning Institute, you will be ready to ‘fire’ at a moment’s notice.

Discounts are available for three or more participants from one credit union to either Strategic Planning Institute Group. For more information on this program call Tom Decker at (800) 356-9655 ext. 4890 or visit our website at
