MADISON, WI – A credit union’s pricing strategy should reflect its business goals. While determining these goals, the impact of pricing decisions on member demand should be considered. Pricing strategies can accomplish several objectives, including influencing behavior, increasing liquidity, providing a competitive advantage and increasing business by targeting segments of current and potential members.

Held May 6 – 11 in St. Pete Beach, Florida and August 12 – 17 in Seattle, Washington, CUNA’s Center for Professional Development’s Financial Management Schools: Parts I & II are designed to help students use pricing strategy to achieve the business goals of their credit unions. Part I is for volunteers and staff at all levels of credit union management who are interested in expanding their expertise in credit union financial management. Part II is designed specifically for Part I graduates who are ready to undertake the challenge of advanced level courses in financial management. Topics covered in Part I will include:

  • Asset/Liability Management
  • Ratio Analysis
  • Investment Policy
  • Budgeting
  • Financial Planning Tool

Part II will cover topics such as:

  • Capital Adequacy and Measuring Risk-Based Capital
  • Credit and Interest Rate Risk Assessment
  • Pricing Financial Services
  • Investment Policy and Objectives
  • Investment Options to Achieve Financial Goals and Objectives

A key part of the learning experience for both Part I and Part II will be computer simulated case studies. Each student will participate in an exciting computer program simulation designed to pull together all of the class topics and allow hands-on practice.
