New STAR Modules Present Financial Management Made Easy

MADISON, WI — Two new STAR (Staff Training and Recognition) Modules, S1200, Financial Management Made Easy I, and S1210, Financial Management Made Easy II, are set to be released in September and October. They provide an easy-to-read introduction to the principles of credit union financial decision-making.

S1200, Financial Management Made Easy I: Financial Statements and Budgeting, scheduled to be released in late September, focuses on:

Financial statements and ratios.
The importance of member service to credit union financial results.
Asset-liability management.
Budget planning.

S1210, Financial Management Made Easy II: Sources and Uses of Money, will be released in late October. It covers issues such as:

Pricing.
Loan delinquency.
Capitalization.
Investments.
Liquidity.

The two financial management modules serve as guides for people with different levels of financial knowledge. They express the common language of financial management, and each module includes a complete glossary of financial terms.

STAR provides self-study courses on a wide range of topics. STAR training strengthens staff skills, builds a solid base of credit union knowledge, and adds power to credit union products and services. For more information on the STAR program, contact your state credit union league.
