MADISON, WI – Product and service information is the lifeblood of business, particularly in the Internet age, because decisions must be made more rapidly and decisively. To help meet this need for information, CUNA is introducing its new free Permission E-Mail Service to credit unions and other affiliate organizations.

"Permission E-mail allows credit unions to ‘opt in’ to receive e-mailed information on specific topic areas via a subscription with CUNA," says Kevin Lytle, vice president of National Marketing, for CUNA.

"Just a sampling of the topic areas subscribers can choose from include E-Commerce, Lending, Marketing Support, Member Research and Youth Programs."

Participants subscribe by completing an electronic Permission E-Mail profile form, located on CUNA’s Web site at www.cuna.org. Here they select the information they want to receive via e-mails. Once registered, subscribers can return and modify their profile to add or delete topics, or unsubscribe, at any time.

Lytle notes that credit unions, like other businesses, are inundated with sales and marketing information. Often, these mailings never reach the appropriate staff member, or at worst are ignored.

"This service represents convenient delivery of news credit unions want and will use," says Lytle. "This is information we deliver because they’ve asked for it. Permission e-mail allows the credit union to make sure targeted information reaches the staff member most appropriate to receive the news."

Lytle adds that for CUNA, this service "allows us to extend our goal of marketing on a one-to-one basis, which is proven to increase response rates."

CUNA’s Permission E-mail Service also guarantees that, among other privacy and quality safeguards, it will not compile e-mail addresses through anonymous collection processes for the purpose of sending bulk unsolicited commercial e-mail, nor will it mislead readers as to the content of an e-mail through a false subject line.
