MADISON, WI — CUNA’s Center for Professional Development presents the 2001 Economics & Investments Conference, set for August 12 — 15, 2001, in Washington, D.C. Financial experts from CUNA, CUNA Mutual Group and Corporate Network Brokerage Services will help you answer the question, "What do we do now?" Speakers at this year’s conference include:

  • Bill Hampel, senior vice president, Research and Policy Analysis Department, and Chief Economist for CUNA, a frequent speaker and author on economic issues related to credit unions whose straightforward, practical approach to financial management contains welcome guidance.
  • Dave Colby, assistant vice president and Corporate Economist, CUNA Mutual Group, a renowned economic expert who has led training sessions for credit union professionals as well as state regulators and whose forecasts help create a clear understanding of the underlying trends and linkages between the general economy, the financial services industry and credit unions.
  • Jeff Thredgold, president of Thredgold Economic Associates, whose thoughtful style and generous sharing of his experience will engage attendees and start us on the path toward a greater understanding of the economic environment.

This conference is designed for CEOs, CFOs, board members, presidents, operations staff, financial and investment officers and committees, elected officials, league and corporate staff and other decision-makers.

A special pre-conference workshop, "Issues & Considerations in Mergers, Acquisitions and Conversions," will be held August 12. In this session, Robin Hoag, Doeren Mayhew’s credit union specialist will lead participants to discovering how to identify critical questions management teams need to answer and the potential trouble spots they need to be prepared to tackle when considering a merger, acquisition, or conversion. Separate registration is required.
