MADISON, WI — Within the first 18 months on the job, 40 percent of all management "newbies" fail by

either getting fired, voluntarily bowing out of the position or receiving a bad review, according to Manchester

Inc., a business consulting group based near Philadelphia. If management skills came easily, then the failure

rate would not be so high.

Management Essentials for Supervisors, Parts I and II, is set for October 14 – 19, 2001, in St. Pete

Beach, Florida. This conference is designed for new and experienced managers who are committed to improving and

enhancing their existing supervisory and management skills, supervisors with little or no formal training, those

staff who have been identified for future advancement and those who aspire to achieve supervisory and management

positions within their credit unions.

Topics covered in Part I include:

  • Employment Law
  • Robbery & Security
  • Counseling Skills

  • Recruitment & Hiring
  • Performance Appraisals

Part II will have sessions covering:

  • Financial Management
  • Managing a Service-Centered

    Credit Union

  • Technology
  • Strategic Planning

Good managers bring out the best in their employees. Learn how to maximize your employees’ productivity by

enhancing your management skills.
