NCUF Announces Search for New Executive DirectorJuly 19, 2001FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MADISON, WI – Pat Brownell has announced that she will be leaving her position as executive director of the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) by the end of this year. The NCUF board is currently conducting a national search for a new executive director. Brownell has been with the Foundation since 1992. "There is no question we will miss Pat and her extraordinary leadership," says John Fiore, NCUF Chairman and CEO of Motorola ECU. "There is also no question that this is a tremendous opportunity. We're ready to grow. We're ready to expand into new grantmaking areas and funding sources. The fundamental work of creating an operationally sound Foundation has been accomplished. In particular, the groundwork Pat has laid over the past 18 months in terms of governance and staff structure will enable us to make that leap to the next level. Frankly I'm excited about the huge potential for success in this leadership transition." NCUF hopes to hire a person with significant foundation experience who will work with the Board to aggressively build the Foundation’s expanding reputation in the credit union and community development worlds. The new executive director will also be working with major private foundations, continuing to build relationships such as the one NCUF presently enjoys with the prestigious Ford Foundation. "The Foundation is in a very solid position right now," says Brownell. "With a major restructure of our Board and staff last year, the new executive director will be stepping into the enviable position of taking over a future-focused, dynamic development organization. It’s an exciting opportunity, and I'm confident the new director and the Board will take the Foundation to places we've only talked or dreamed about in the past." The Community Investment Fund (CIF) will continue to be credit unions' primary method of giving to NCUF, and the Foundation will continue to fund innovative national model programs that help credit unions increase their capacity to serve members, particularly low- to moderate- income members, urban and ethnic communities, and other underserved groups. The Board has hired Kittleman & Associates, a search firm out of Chicago, to assist them in their search. Persons interested in applying for the position should forward resumes to Mary Beth Malone, vice president of Kittleman & Associates at 300 South Wacker Dr, #1710, Chicago, IL 60606, email: mmalone@kittleman.net. Established in 1980, NCUF is the U.S. credit union movement's primary charitable and fundraising organization for worldwide credit union development. The foundation has given more than $8.4 million in grants, including those for international development, domestic credit union development, disaster relief at home and abroad, national model programs, and scholarships.
