NCUF Honors League Support with Three New AwardsDecember 17, 2001FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MADISON, WI The National Credit Union Foundation has created three new awards to recognize league support of the Foundation's work. Six leagues were honored at the recent American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) meeting in Florida. The Chairman's Club Award recognizes cash donations of $25,000 or more to the general fund and/or CIF investments exceeding $10 million. The Leadership Circle Award recognizes cash/in-kind contributions of $15,000 to the general fund and/or CIF investments exceeding $5 million. The Pace Setter Award recognizes innovative programs/fundraising in support of the National Credit Union Foundation. "The contribution that leagues make to the National Credit Union Foundation cannot be overstated," says Bruce Wheeler, director of Donor & Public Relations for the NCUF. "It is our distinct honor to provide recognition to those states that have gone over and above in 2001." The Pennsylvania and California Credit Union Leagues were inducted into the Chairman's Club, and the Illinois Credit Union System and the North Carolina Credit Union Network were inducted into the Leadership Circle. The Texas and Washington Credit Union Leagues were recipients of the Pace Setter Award. The Texas Credit Union League was honored for its work in bringing small credit unions into the Community Investment Fund. The Washington Credit Union League was honored for its innovative marketing of the Community Investment Fund and integration of Development Educators into league development activities. Established in 1980, NCUF is the U.S. credit union movement's primary charitable and fundraising organization for worldwide credit union development. The foundation has given more than $8.4 million in grants, including $5 million to international development, $1.6 million for domestic credit union development, $2 million for disaster relief at home and abroad, national model programs and scholarships.
