CUNA PRESIDENT AND CEO DAN MICA ON HOUSE APPROVAL OF S.896 (“Helping Families Save Their Homes Act”)
Our thanks to the House of Representatives today for quickly considering and approving legislation extending $250,000 share insurance coverage and helping credit unions manage the impact of the financial crisis on the credit union system through the corporate stabilization program. Our understanding is that the Senate will likely consider the House’s bill either late today or early tomorrow, and we urge the Senate to approve it quickly. Time is of the essence; this important legislation will help credit unions continue to help their members weather the financial crisis and maintain member confidence in credit unions.
