CU History Training First of New Seminar In A Box Titles Debuting in 2009

MADISON, Wis. – Credit unions can educate their staff members on the history of the movement and build strong credit union advocates with the first of several new time-saving training titles from CUNA.
CU Basics: History of the Credit Union Movement Seminar in a Box (stock number 27591) traces the history of the movement, along with key figures and legislation, and other important milestones along the way. The course also references many of these key historical moments and figures to demonstrate how the rich traditions of the movement are reflected in credit unions today.
The Credit Union Seminars in a Box for Staff series was developed as a time-saving tool for planning and executing employee training sessions. Each reusable kit contains credit union specific training content, including facilitator guides, master copies of participant handouts, session materials on CD-ROM, a step-by-step speaker checklist, training tips, and more.
Additional Seminar in a Box for Staff titles that are set to be released in 2009 include:
- CU Compliance: Disaster Recovery (stock number 27580) – The seminar teaches the basics every staff member should know about preparing for and recovering the credit union from disaster. Using the credit union’s own disaster recovery plan, this seminar helps familiarize all credit union staff of their roles in case a disaster. Credit unions are also able to add the components of its own plan that are critical for staff to know and understand.
- CU Compliance: Regulation D Reserve Requirements (stock number 27582) – clearly explains the transaction limits placed on deposit accounts by this regulation. It also defines transaction and deposit accounts and how to calculate the six-transfer limit.
- CU Compliance: Office of Foreign Assets Control (stock number 27584) – details the duty and purpose of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and what the OFAC requires of credit unions. Specifically, the course offers definitions and tools to help with OFAC requirements, including the requirement to check members against a Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) and Blocked Persons list.
- CU Compliance: Regulation E Electronic Funds Transfer (stock number 27589) – outlines what transactions are covered by Regulation E, and offers guidance to determine when a disclosure is required, what must be included in the disclosure, and what form must be provided.
- CU Basics: New Employee Orientation (stock number 27590) – helps new hires become assimilated into the credit union and their new roles as quickly as possible. The seminar also explains the credit union’s mission, goals, and place in the market.
- CU Security and Fraud: Check Fraud (stock number 27583) – help teach staff members how to detect credit union and member fraud. It also provides guidance for staff on how to help members protect themselves against scams and fraud.
- CU Security and Fraud: Robbery Procedures (stock number 27592) – informs staff members on the credit union’s plans and procedures in case of a robbery situation.
