MADISON, Wis. – The high school level of CUNA’s three-in-one online youth magazine – Googolplex – was recently redesigned to add more money management information and interactivity.

The new C-Note gives teenage readers the ability to:

  • Enter and vote in a themed photo contest with cash prizes of $100 to $1,000;
  • Post comments for other users (this feature is moderated);
  • Change the site’s look and mark favorite content;
  • Request notification of new content on specific topics;
  • Refine searches by content format, such as videos, stories, games, and calculators;
  • Follow the Wheels serial comic strip online.

Peer contributors will continue to write many of the articles – along with the new blogs “Money Smarts” and “Senior Year” – to keep C-Note interesting and relevant to high school students. The update also has more opportunities for credit unions to increase their presence on the site through additional links and credit union descriptive text.

Designed to help credit unions make youth of all ages feel welcome on their Web sites, Googolplex offers credit union-specific consumer stories and games with new content added weekly.

In 2006, Googolplex visitors logged more than 12.7 million page views throughout its three separate reading and interest levels:

  • 5-Spot - addresses basic money concepts such as saving and spending for elementary students;
  • AJ's - helps middle schoolers tackle popular topics such as making friends, getting rich, and shopping; and
  • C-Note - contains financial and personal advice on common interests for high school students such as cars, college, getting rich, and shopping.

For more information about Googolplex, visit finlit.cuna.org and select the “Web Content” link, or call (800) 356-9655, ext. 4344.
