This session will explore opportunities that credit unions can utilize to combat check fraud losses which continue to occur due to advancing technologies and changes in our regulatory environment. We will review internal procedures and external resources available to prevent these losses at the teller line, as well as back-office measures to recover uninsurable losses.

During this webinar, you will learn to:

• Recognize how the changes to Regulation CC have helped and hindered credit unions from a check fraud standpoint.
• Understand how to utilize Uniform Commercial Code to combat items that are returned fraudulent.
• Identify changes in security to combat counterfeiting, forgery and check washing.
• Discuss training techniques for the front line staff and membership.

Deborah is a nationally recognized speaker on fraud and risk management, and the president of Credit Union Risk Educational Services (CURES), LLC. Educating credit union employees on all levels within the organization is foremost in the efforts of CURES to reduce credit union industry fraud losses. She is also the internal auditor of Buckeye State Credit Union. Deborah helps audience members analyze information and apply it to their own individual credit unions. She was previously a senior risk management specialist for CUNA Mutual Group's Credit Union Protection Risk Management Department and the CEO of School Employees Lorain County Credit Union.
