The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is designed to help employees balance their work and family responsibilities by allowing them to take reasonable unpaid leave for certain family and medical reasons. For companies with more than 50 employees, FMLA guarantees eligible employees the right to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave annually due to family reasons such as child birth or adoption, or serious health conditions for either themselves or a family member.

Joe is Vice President of BASIC, a HR Service Company providing employer solution in the area of human resources and benefit administration. In his current role, Mr. Aitchison is responsible for regulatory compliance and is BASIC’s resident expert on employment practice and benefits.
