About This Event

The student loan industry has shrunk over the last couple of years from over 100 national lenders to just a hand full. As traditional student loan lenders have dropped out of the business due to the credit crisis and legislative changes, credit unions have been stepping in to provide a solution to their members and their families. And the only recent new entrants have been credit unions which have available funding and a desire to attract Gen Y members.

At the same time, the federal loan program is going through the biggest changes in its history and the new Regulation Z rules and other proposed legislation are impacting how non-federal loans must be originated.

This webinar is designed both for credit unions currently offering student loans and those contemplating offering student loans. You will gain information on the current financial, credit, legislative, and competitive environment affecting student loans.

Through this webinar, you will:
  • Learn the impact of the credit crisis on student loans and their availability
  • Gain a better understanding of the difference between federal and private student loans
  • Establish how your credit union can attract Gen Y members by offering student loans
  • Analyze market size and opportunities for student loans
  • Review the proposed and passed legislation impacting student loans
  • Discuss the economics of student loans

This event is in conjunction with the CUNA Lending Council.
