Unfortunately, news reports are increasing about seniors who have become victims of elder abuse. Many states have enacted laws that require credit unions to identify and prevent the financial exploitation of our senior members. Can federal regulation be far away? While elder abuse can take many forms, it usually involves someone in a position of trust to the victim. Whether required by law or not, credit unions are in a unique position to identify and combat this growing problem.
