If your work environment causes you to constantly deal with issues like disengagement, cynicism, sarcasm, negativity, burnout, toxicity, and apathy this workshop is for you! You know your workplace can feel better, do better, and be better than it is right now. Learn how you can take your organization to higher ground! You'll leave this session with a very clear understanding of what workplace culture is and how to make it better by positively and powerfully influencing it with proven cultural best practices. You'll leave this session with a plan for improving your culture and workplace, with a list of resources to keep you energized and focused on your journey, and knowing exactly what to do at your very next team meeting to motivate and inspire your staff

Learning Solutions for Your Credit Union

This session will discuss what constitutes the different learning styles and how HR and training professionals can use this information to develop effective training solutions for their credit union. We will also discuss the different solutions available to credit unions and how they can be used to maximize the success.

Day Two: HR Employment Law Update: Are You Ready for the Big Game?

Jonathan Martin

New Plays for a New Season – Recent Developments in HR Law

Just as every new sports season brings with it excitement and challenges, every new administration brings new plans, new players and new challenges for employers. This year, employers will have to work hard to keep up with the full court press of new statues and regulations coming out of the new administration and Congress. They’ll also have to keep an eye on new case law expanding employee protections under existing laws. This session will review the most important new labor and employment law developments – and attempt to provide practical advice to employers to help them maintain a winning record.

Going Into Overtime – Understanding Unique FLSA Issues

Using recent cases and practical examples, this program will guide employers off the bench and into the game of understanding the more challenging aspects of the FLSA. We will examine common and unique statutory exemptions, what constitutes compensable hours of work, and the use of alternative work schedules and payment plans.

Building the Dream Team – Hiring and Pre-Employment Issues

Selecting the best players can often be a challenge. Federal, state and local laws, along with your company’s policies, impose certain limitations, obligations and responsibilities upon the coaches and team managers when selecting new players. In addition, if the wrong player is selected, the decision could prove to be a costly error. This session will cover procedures for the appropriate use of employment applications, effective legal interviewing techniques, and utilizing various screenings methods. We will also discuss how you – as coaches, team managers, and team owners – can ensure uniformity during the recruiting process.

Staying in the Game – Health Related Attendance Issues

It’s the week before the big game and your starting quarterback needs an injury time out. His doctor says he can only play once a week, but your biggest rival is right around the corner. What is a coach to do? This interactive session will discuss ideas on how to implement policies and procedures that comply with the applicable leave laws while allowing for some flexibility to address individual players’ needs. It will also focus on ways to develop a game plan for handling employees who are injured at work or require leave to address personal issues, and what to do when almost the entire team is on the disabled list. This interactive session will also fine tune your FMLA game plan, from notice to certification, to help you take your team to success.

Keeping the Stat Sheet – All About Documentation

Many times a company will win or lose the game based on its documentation. This interactive workshop will explore the essential elements to keeping the right stats from pre-hiring to post-termination. You will also have the chance to review some game film and discuss what should have been done to win the game.
