What past attendees say

"I gained a majority of my compliance knowledge just by attending the initial compliance school and the updates. Every time I go I learn something new and the staff always makes sure the presentation information is as current as it can be."

"I have pages of compliance points to check on and many things to implement! The teachers are excellent and full of knowledge. They are very willing to answer any questions that come up."

"Every person interprets the regulations differently and networking with others helps you to all get on the same page, so-to-speak, and reinforces what we all do on a daily basis."

"It was a good experience for me. I always hear about the dreaded "compliance training", but it was really enlightening and I enjoyed it."

Prior to joining CUNA, Ryan worked for the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues as director of Federal Government Affairs. He also served as a member of the Congressional staffs of Representative Brad Sherman (D-CA) and former House Democratic Leader Richard A. Gephardt (D-MO).

During his tenure in Representative Sherman’s office, Ryan quickly rose through the ranks from legislative assistant to become chief of staff and legislative director. Ryan staffed Representative Sherman on the House Financial Services Committee and worked on legislation that moved through the committee including Check 21, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction (FACT) Act, Sarbanes-Oxley, and the Financial Services Regulatory Relief Act. As the Congressman’s chief of staff, he also had responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Washington Congressional office.

He serves as outside counsel to the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors and is admitted to the state bars of North Carolina, Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland.
