Unfortunately, the number of lender liability lawsuits has mirrored this trend, and is expected to continue to increase in the future. This session will illustrate typical case law allegations, including negligence and breach of fiduciary duty, and will help you learn how to protect your credit union from these exposures. Also, you'll learn the basics of repossessions and foreclosures, ways to minimize lender liability losses, and how insurance can protect your credit union.

Constance Anderson
Constance is a nationally-recognized credit union marketing consultant and trainer. She has been an instructor of marketing for the CUNA Management School, the Southwest Management School, and the CUNA Marketing Management School. In addition, she has spoken to credit union marketers at state conferences from Maine to California. She has also spoken about credit union marketing to the national conferences of NACUSO, NASCUS, and the National Youth Involvement Board. Constance is the author of three marketing texts published by Credit Union National Association: Strategic Credit Union Marketing, the Marketing Handbook for Credit Unions, and Catch Your Members on the Net. She also consults with credit unions across the U.S. to craft strategic marketing plans.

She has particular expertise in assisting boards with compliance, fiscal management, fundraising, relations and retention, risk management, special events, strategic planning, team-building, and training.
Debbie Matz
Debbie was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as the eighth board chair of the National Credit Union Administration. As Chair of the NCUA Board, she is the spokesperson for the agency and oversees the regulation of federal credit unions and the administration of the federal insurance fund covering approximately 8,000 credit unions with over $800 billion in assets. Debbie has extensive experience on Capitol Hill. Prior to becoming NCUA board chair, she served on President Obama’s Economic Transition Team. From 2006 until June 2008, Debbie was the Executive Vice-President/Chief Operating Officer of a federal credit union serving 90,000 members with branches in the United States and Europe.

Mike is a businessman, motivational speaker, consultant, author, business owner and developer of a showcase garden destination. For over 25 years, he has been involved in the daily operations of the multi-million dollar educational publishing house that he founded.
Warren Morrow
As CEO and founder of Coopera Consulting, Warren promotes Coopera's
approach to serving Hispanics throughout the credit union industry. He works with credit unions to position themselves for long-term growth by serving Hispanics. Warren served on Iowa Lieutenant Governor's Diversity Committee, was awarded the Iowa Friends of Civil Rights Award for work with immigrants, was named one of the Des Moines Business Record's "40 under 40," and was profiled in CityView's, 10 People Making a Difference piece.
David Reed
Attorney, author, consultant and nationally recognized speaker, David is a partner in the law firm of Reed and Jolly, PLLC and founder of CU Doctor, a full service credit union consulting practice. Through Reed and Jolly, David provides guidance to credit unions concerning a variety of matters including the establishment and revision of credit union policies and procedures, organizational compliance, collections, security, contractual agreements, regulatory matters and corporate governance.
David is particularly noted as an expert in the areas of credit union operations, bankruptcy and collections. He has been selected to train NCUA Field Examination and Audit Staff on numerous issues including ID Theft Red Flags, S.A.F.E Act, Third Party Contract Management and Bankruptcy matters.
Ben Rogers
Ben is the research director at Filene Research Institute. For Ben, correct is important but useful is paramount. With that lens, Ben manages and edits a brimming pipeline of economic, market, and policy research related to the consumer finance industry. As the Filene Research Institutes research director he speaks widely on credit union topics and has authored nearly twenty Filene reports, including much of the Institute's young adult research. Ben has served as director of the Institutes CU Tomorrow project, and previously as editor of The CEO Report and chairman of the National Directors Convention. Ben has been cited in the Wall Street Journal, American Banker, the Credit Union Times, and the Credit Union Journal.
Dottie Schindlinger
Dottie is vice president of e-governance for BoardEffect, Inc., the leading
provider of board portal solutions for non-profit boards of directors. In this role, Dottie provides leadership and promotes BoardEffect® as an expert in the field. She speaks internationally on the role of e-governance in enhancing board leadership, and has written for a wide range of publications.
John Wallace
John is the director and product executive for the Special Insurance Package
(SIP) and Bond for CUNA Mutual Group in Madison, Wisconsin. He is responsible for the business strategy, product management, execution, and overall financial results for SIP and Bond products. He is also responsible for developing and executing product-level strategy.
Murray Williams
Murray is the chief operating officer of the Iowa Credit Union League. In this role, he manages ICUL's operations while overseeing all dues and fee-based services, and providing integration with ICUL subsidiaries and partners. He has been with ICUL and its subsidiaries since 1996, most recently as vice president. Murray has been inducted into the International Executive Volunteer Corps for the World Council of Credit Unions and is a former chairman of the national Public Relations Society of America's Association/Nonprofit Section. He sits on several community and industry committees, and is a member of the Iowa and American Societies of Association Executives.
