Your Board of Directors is an essential component in the equation for success at your credit union. You plan the strategic direction of your credit union and the succession of your CEO, but do you plan for the succession of board members?

This session will:

  • Answer your questions regarding the importance of having a succession plan for board members and how to do it while maintaining the integrity of your election process.
  • Find out what the current practices are of your peers through an open forum process.
  • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of setting either term limits or age limits.
  • Take you through a step-by-step process to help get your board get ready to determine which competencies are most important at your credit union.
  • Reveal unique options for board member succession successfully used by some of your credit union peers.
  • Provide you with a pre-workshop credit union board self-assessment that you can discuss with your fellow board members before attending the session.

This workshop would provide some valuable information including a self-assessment that attendees would complete prior to attending the workshop. In a workshop setting there would be time for heavy discussion and a few exercises. My intention for the program would be for each participant to walk out with a plan of action which could range from simply bringing the idea of board succession planning to their full board’s attention to taking the work that they start in developing a plan at the workshop and completing it at their credit union.

Yvonne Evers


Yvonne is a chief executive officer of YME Coaching & Consulting, LLC. Yvonne has followed her passion and has become a credentialed coach through the International Coach Federation. She assists organizations in maintaining their competitive advantage by coaching CEOs, executive team members, and Boards to exceed their goals.

Yvonne has been on the Board of Directors of the University of Wisconsin Credit Union (UWCU), which has $1.4B in assets for 12 years. During her tenure on the Board she has held numerous leadership positions.
