Board Member's Biography

John Sackett

John Sackett has been a Member of RCU for over 30 years. Currently, he is Treasurer of RCU's Board of Directors. Prior to becoming Treasurer, John held the position of Chairperson for 17 years. He chairs the Finance Committee and serves on the Political Action Committee. He also serves as Chair of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Volunteer Leadership Committee, and he has served on Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Community Credit Union Committee (vice chair), CUNA's Mergers Task Force, and the CUNA Task Force on Due Diligence. John was elected to the CUNA Board in June and took office July 1, 2015.  He is the first volunteer elected to the CUNA Board since the 1996 Renewal Review recommendations changed the election procedures and composition of the board.

John has attended and made presentations at numerous Credit Union Executive Society conferences plus many state and local seminars relating to credit union activities. For the completion of the National Volunteer Achievement Program, John has received the following certificates: Edward Filene (1986), Friedrich Raiffeisen (1990), Roy F. Bergengren (1992), Technology (1999), Alphonse Desjardins (2003), Louise Herring (2003), Dora Maxwell (2003), and Thomas Doig (2011). He also completed the Credit Union Leadership Program, and he is a Certified Credit Union Volunteer.

John was the Director of Finance for the Eau Claire Area School District for 27 years. He is now a K-12 education finance consultant. John was honored with the 2001 Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials' Wallace Zastrow Award. He is a graduate of the UW-Eau Claire with a Bachelors Degree in Comprehensive Public Accounting.

John's vision is to expand RCU to new markets and new Members while being the primary financial institution of choice in the communities where RCU has a presence.

John and his wife, Kris, have four children and live in Eau Claire.
