Board Member's Biography

Tom Kane

Tom Kane is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Illinois Credit Union System.  Since 2015, he has led the complex organizations of both the Illinois Credit Union League and LSC (ICUL Service Corporation).  A collaborator and strategic thinker, Tom is a longtime champion of the credit union movement and is strongly committed to the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.”  Since joining the League in 2003, Tom has held several key leadership roles including Chief Administrative Officer, Executive Vice President/Operations, and Chief Security Officer.

Tom's track record of strong leadership over the past 30 years includes management positions at Chicago-based companies Focal Communications, Aon Corporation, Quaker Oats, and Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, Virginia. 

Tom currently serves on the boards of Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and League InfoSight.  He also serves as a member of the National Credit Union Foundation's Wegner Awards Nomination Committee and the CUNA Small Credit Union Committee.

A native of Iowa, Tom received a bachelor's degree from Loras College, with majors in Business, Political Science, and History.  He earned a master's degree in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame.  An avid reader of newspaper and historical books, Tom loves writing and travelling.  Tom resides with his wife Beth in Glen Ellyn, Illinois where they raised four children.
