Actions We Can Take

Creating awareness, belief and action on behalf of America's credit unions.

We call it 360-degree advocacy. But we don’t do it alone. CUNA, state Leagues, credit unions and 130 million members stand together to continue the fight for the credit union movement.

It's time to get involved. It's time to take action.

Interchange Works: Protect My Card

Consumers and merchants alike benefit from the current interchange system. However, some lawmakers in Washington, DC are looking to make changes that could impact card security for consumers, make it harder for people to access credit, and increase costs to small businesses. Tell your lawmakers to keep the current interchange system that protects cards keeps the economy flowing.

Write to Federal Regulators

Looking to engage Federal Regulators?  Take a look at the open comment calls and submit feedback to the NCUA, CFPB, FHFA, and other federal agencies.

Project Zip Code

Project Zip Code (PZC) is a user-friendly, secure computer program that counts your members and matches them to a congressional district, state legislative district and county. These counts are then uploaded to CUNA's Project Zip Code website and combined with data from other credit unions nationwide.

Project Zip Code aids in federal and state advocacy efforts and participation provides operational benefits. Credit unions can view the number of credit union members by geographic area, which can be useful in placing ATMs and shared branching.

Information is completely secure with Project Zip Code. In fact, only the number of credit union members is transmitted to the Project Zip Code national database. Specific member data cannot be viewed by anyone outside your organization.

The master census that results from credit unions running PZC helps demonstrate the strength of credit union membership across the nation. It shows the power of advocacy efforts when we all work together.

To view Project Zip Code totals for your credit union, state, or league and to design your own Project Zip Code reports, please visit these PZC resources:

If you have questions regarding Project Zip Code or wish to participate, please contact your league or email pzc@cuna.com.
