2018 Will See Two New Senators in the U.S. Senate
Posted December 15, 2017 by CUNA Advocacy

This week saw a special election that garnered attention from across the country and a Governor announcing the replacement for a resigning Senator.

Alabama held its special election to fill the seat previously held by the now-Attorney General, Jeff Sessions.  The historically very red-state was flipped when Doug Jones won by a margin of 51-49.  His opponent has yet to concede, but the results are expected to hold up.

In Minnesota, Governor Dayton plans to appoint Lt. Gov. Tina Smith to replace the resigning Senator Franken.

CUNA looks forward to working with both new Senators to ensure they know and understand the credit union difference and the important role credit unions play in their communities.
