Advocacy Issues are Hot Topics at CUNA’s Attorneys Conference

This week, well over 100 credit union lawyers met in Park City, Utah to discuss legal issues facing the credit union industry at CUNA’s Attorneys Conference. The American Bar Association Credit Union Committee also met during day one of the conference. 

A number of the issues CUNA’s Advocacy team has been working on were topics of discussion including: 

  • The Telephone Consumer Protection Act 

  • Military Lending Act 

  • The Department of Labor Overtime Rule 

  • Member Business Lending 

  • Field of Membership 

  • Cyber Security litigation 

  • Marijuana and Credit Unions 

  • Arbitration 

Additionally, CUNA’s Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer and Senior Counsel Elizabeth Eurgubian and Chief Compliance Officer Jared Ihrig provided an update on current regulatory and compliance issues impacting credit unions. Representatives from the National Credit Union Administration also provided an update about their ongoing agenda.  

The conference provided a valuable forum for discussions about the many legal issues impacting the credit union industry.
